Safe & Beneficial

Trained & Regulated:

Osteopathy is very safe.  The minimum qualification for an osteopath is the completion of a four or five year degree, which includes at least 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice. We must then continue to update and expand our knowledge with professional development. The GOsC maintain a strict code of professional practice.

As GOsC website notes “Osteopaths are also recognised by the NHS as Allied Health Professionals and play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment and care of people of all ages.”

The benefits of treatment can include:

  • Non-Invasive and Medication Free treatment
  • Reduced pain and inflammation
  • Reduced stiffness and increased mobility
  • A faster return to your life and activity
  • Improved general health and wellbeing
  • Qualified diagnosis and treatment, enabling the body’s own healing mechanism
  • Reduced likelihood of reccurence of issue, as the root cause of the problem is identified and targeted

YOUR TREATMENT

BEFORE TREATMENT: To begin I will ask a number of questions about your symptoms and medical history, examine your posture and how you move your body, and I may also assess what happens when I move it for you to see what hurts, where and when. I may find areas of sensitivity or tightness, this helps me to identify, for example, what may leading to your back pain, elbow pain, knee pain, hip pain or shoulder pain. This process gives me the information I need to make a diagnosis of your condition or confirm the findings of your own doctor.

OSTEOPATHY TREATMENT: Treatment is a manual therapy tailored to your situation – dependant on your diagnosis, age, fitness, etc. Treating your specific complaint as well as addressing any underlying causes will include different types of soft tissue massage & joint articulation, to release tension, stretch muscles, mobilise stiff joints and help relieve pain.
